Through advocacy and education, the Construction & Demolition Recycling Association (CDRA) is an industry organization that works to promote the recycling of over 500 million tons of recoverable construction and demolition (C&D) waste generated in the United States each year. Since 1994, the CDRA has represented a diverse group of individual members, private sector businesses, public sector agencies and industry vendors spanning a variety of C&D disciplines.
Each year, millions of tons of C&D waste, including concrete, asphalt, wood, metals, gypsum and shingles, are recycled. According to the CDRA, the C&D Recycling Industry is projected to be responsible for over 28,000 jobs in the United States. Members of the CDRA association include recyclers, vendors, consultants, government agencies and supporters of the C&D industry.
“The work CDRA does to improve the climate for C&D recyclers is why those companies involved in the industry should be part of the CDRA,” Says William Turley, Executive Director of the CDRA. “Not only do those companies get access to all of CDRA’s industry-specific research, but there are discounts to the association’s events. Members also get specialized help from the CDRA staff when needed, and can participate on the association’s committees to learn the latest on what is going on in the C&D world.”

The CDRA is the industry’s only assocation dedicated to providing essential information to the marketplace and promoting the needs of C&D recyclers to the country’s lawmakers and regulators. As organization members, C&D recyclers are provided with opportunities to attend conferences, serve on committees and connect with valuable industry-related information such as equipment, financing, insurance and other specialized third party resources and services.
For the past several years, Viably (formerly Komptech Americas) has been a long-standing member, endorsing the CDRA’s mission and work. In fact, Brandon Lapsys, President of Viably, is an active member of the CDRA board of directors and was recently selected as the 2020 Member of the Year honoree.
On March 21-23, 2021, the CDRA will host the 2021 C&D World Annual Convention in Austin, Texas. The conference provides an opportunity for North American construction and demolition recyclers to discuss and explore the latest industry technology and trends. Offering socially distanced education sessions and exhibit halls with industry-leading equipment and supplies vendors, 2021 C&D World will present a collaborative environment for all attendees.
Viably (formerly Komptech Americas) is a proud to sponsor the CDRA Fundraiser on Monday, March 22 where attendees can help support the CDRA’s advocacy for the industry. We will also be exhibiting at this year’s event to provide expertise on the latest C&D technology and recycling equipment. We invite you to stop by our combined exhibit booth #106/108 to speak one-on-one with our C&D specialists.
“The C&D Recycling Association is delighted that Komptech is sponsoring this year’s fundraiser at its Annual Meeting, C&D World 2021. The funds raised during the event are used to promote the recyclers’ viewpoint to government officials and to finance important research that will further the C&D industry,” says Turley.
